- SPIRITUALS-BLUES-GOSPEL - I have a programme called "THE SPIRIT & THE BLUES", a concert played on acoustic instruments of a bygone era, the traditional gospel songs from the Delta regions of the southern USA..!! The bluesmen played the blues at Juke-Joints and bars on Saturday night and the next morning the same musicians played the Gospel music in church..!! The lyrics were different but the music almost the same.. I've always loved the other side of the blues and this is my tribute!! Mainly traditional songs but also some of my own tunes as well as soul and blues.. This event is very suitable for churches, where this music form is truly at home, I can also do this concert as a duo or trio, depending on the venue and audience.. One of the reviews here!
-Do you sing in a gospel choir and would like to give a concert with some real traditional gospel..?! Together we'll give a concert of old-timey, genuine traditional spiritual songs, and your choir sings with us!! For example: The band starts the event by performing 3-4 songs and then the choir comes on and does, say, 6-8 trad. gospel songs along with us!!! This works well in any church and the audience really enjoys this.. Contact me if You and your choir would be interested in this programme!! And hey! You get a full band along for your concert!! :) This concert can also be performed with me and a pianoplayer..

Jag har ett konsertprogram
kallat "THE SPIRIT & THE BLUES",
en konsert som spelas på akustiska instrument från en förgången tid,
traditionella gospellåtar från Deltaregionerna i södra USA ..! Där
bluesmän spelade blues på Juke-Joints och barer på lördag kväll och
nästa morgon spelade samma musiker gospelmusik i kyrkan..! Texterna
var olika, men musiken nästan samma.. Jag har alltid älskat
och faschinerats av den andra sidan av bluesen och detta är min
hyllning! Främst traditionella sånger men också några av mina egna låtar..
Denna konsert är mycket lämpligt för kyrkor, där musiken utgör
verkligen är hemma, men även andra sammanhang passar bra med denna
msikform. Jag kan göra denna konsert som duo eller trio, beroende
på plats och publik.

Tillsammans kan vi ge en konsert i gamla traditionella
spirituals, helt enkelt "andliga blueslåtar" och din kör
sjunger med oss! Till exempel: Jag och kompmusiker börjar konserten
genom att spela 3-4 låtar och sedan kommer kören upp och vi låt oss säga,
6-8 trad. bluesgospel-låtar tillsammans med oss! Detta fungerar bra i
en kyrka och publiken gillar verkligen detta .. Kontakta mig om du

- BLUES AT SCHOOL - I have been asked many times by music schools if I could come and have a day of blues for the students! Play a little, show videos of the old masters, have lessons about the origins, history, different styles and so on.. So now I can offer an event, called "Blues at School" which both includes me playing the blues and spiritual songs from the southern US, the place where it all began.. And also discussions and lessons about the blues, different styles, legendary players, in short, the history, behind a music form that is the origin of most modern pop and rock music.. Classes in Bottleneck(slide) guitar playing technique, Vocal styles of the blues etc.. The event is finished off with me playing a concert, solo or with one of my bands.. ha en dag med blues för eleverna! Spela lite, visa videoklipp med de
gamla mästarna, ge lektioner om ursprunget, historien. Olika
stilar t.ex. delta, country, piedmontblues och dess främsta

- The HOUSE CONCERT - House concerts can play an important role in the touring artist's life. There are times when the artist's travel plans take them through an area with lots of friends and fans, but not on a Friday or Saturday when most venues present music. And there are some groups of people who would like to hear the artist away from the clatter of a crowded, noisy pub or a festival environment. -My alter ego! The lone blues singer, sometimes I play the blues on my own as Bottleneck John! Mostly old-timey 1920's and 30's unpolished, raw Delta & Country blues stuff.. Spirituals, of course, are also an essential part of my repertoire!! What better way to get your audience in the mood than with a set of laid back stuff from the Delta? I play my resonator guitars, a Tricone and Singlecone, my beloved tin-cans, in open G and D tuning and have one foot pounding out the rhythm on the floorboards... Some stuff in regular as well.. Classic tunes from Charley Patton, Robert Johnson, Son House, Blind Willie Johnson, Skip James, Muddy Waters, Bukka White etc.. As well as my own songs in the genre..!! From time to time some friends join in on Harmonica, Double Bass, Piano, Drums etc. A full acoustic Delta Blues Band!!

-My new act is a fun project! Here it'll be just two electric guitars, harmonica and drums! We'll offer the dirty swingin' gritty groove of Hound Dog Taylor, Lightnin' Hopkins, Howlin' Wolf and their likes to name some influences! Down home blues for sure!! Be prepared to jump, laugh and boogie... With a heavily distorted, highly amplified electric sound that swaps the standard time-keeping of a bassist for the more propulsive chug of a rhythm guitar player, we'll bring the grimy juke-joint boogie back to the fore. -Mitt så kallade "solo-projekt", att äntligen ta itu med alla de låtar jag skrivit sedan 1999, arrangera, spela in och slutligen framföra mina låtar live inför publik! Jag har gjort detta nu och detta har fått ett överväldigande bra mottagande, vilket gläder mig något oerhört, jag menar, dessa låtar har legat glömda i högar med papper i flera år, jag visste inte riktigt vad jag skulle göra med dem! Eller när, hur!! Men nu är det igång, en CD med 12 st låtar är klar och väntar bara på att släppas!!! Jag bjöd in en rad goda vänner som hjälpte mig att klä dessa nakna musikstycken i vackra kläder.. Ett stort TACK till alla!! The Singer/Songwriter side of me!!! These tunes don't quite fit in the blues genre. Still, they have to be written, I just sit there with my guitar and words and music just comes to me. Please have a listen!!

..I think Im going to burn my guitar and never sing again.The moment this guy starts singing......you KNOW you are listening to an ancient, weathered black man from the southern US, who has endured all the hardships that life could possibly offer. The toils, trouble and inhumanities have burned an imprint into a hardened soul. Great. Then you check out his page and find out that hes a thirty something as white as you can get guy from Sweden.
This music is nothing short of incredible for the genre. Either this gentleman has been possessed by the spirit of a roaming Delta Jook-Joint long dead madman, or hes just plain genius.
Im pretty sure its the latter.The depth of soul in this man's voice is at the least stirring, and at the most.....entirely captivating. To top it all off......his traditional bottleneck accompaniment on vintage pre-war resonator tricones and duolians are so perfect for the genre that if we added some phono hissing and record scratches......we wouldn't know that we weren't listening to a lost blues legend. I don't say any of this lightly.
Wow.
If you like the Blues, and particularly the Delta (country) Blues, I can almost guarantee that you will hang on to this guy's MP3's.Absolutely amazing, John. Amazing.
