BJ goes Delta.. A dream come true, this was a fun experience!

Jeez, to see this landscape with my own eyes was some totally awesome.. Any blues musicians dream come true!!

Fullständigt, otroligt underbart är de första orden som jag hittar när jag ska beskriva denna tripp till bluesmusikens hemtrakter!! Jag gjorde en mindre turné i Mississippideltat med spelningar i Mississippi, Tennesee och Arkansas.

Bland annat var jag inbjuden att spela på ”Arkansas Blues & Heritage Festival” i Helena.. Inbitna bluesfans vet att den förut gick under namnet ”The King Biscuit Blues Festival” och det är väl en av USA’s mest klassiska bluesfestivaler, så det var en stor ära och en fantastiskt rolig spelning!! Det känns faktiskt så stort att det är svårt att beskriva, jag menar, de har ju ett ganska stort utbud av bluesartister från USA att välja på och så blir en svensk från lilla Östersund inbjuden att medverka?! Att spela på ”The Biscuit” var en av höjdpunkterna så här långt i min karriär! Dessutom fick jag på festivalen se och höra en massa otroliga bluesmusiker, bland annat Robert Jr Lockwood som gjorde sin sista konsert där..

Mottagandet var sjukt positivt, folk var väldigt förbryllade och förtjusta att en Europé kom hem till deras trakter och lirade blues i gammal stil. Ett par bluesfans blev så imponerade att de följde mig och besökte 3 olika spelningar, haha, helt underbart..

Jag reste runt en del och fick se den fattiga sidan av deltat också, det var lärorika dagar i södern, att se milsvida bomullsfält sträcka ut sig och att tänka på de som gjorde bluesen till musikformen som vi känner den idag, fy fasen vilket slit det måste har varit för dessa slavar som har gått och plockat för hand i otrolig värme och massor av insekter som bits riktigt styggt..

Jag kan säga att nu förstår jag bluesen på en helt annan nivå, man måste verkligen åka dit och se sig omkring innan man fattar hur det faktiskt har varit där. Det finns hela samhällen där arbetslösheten är nära 100%.. Jag skämtar faktiskt inte när jag berättar att det ibland kändes som om jag var tillbaka på 1930-talet när man såg bostäderna i några små samhällen!    Det är starka minnen kan jag säga! Och att alla man träffade var otroligt vänliga och hjälpsamma är andra starka minnen från min resa genom deltat.. Jag kommer absolut att åka tillbaka och spela framöver!! Längtar redan!

It was a wonderful little natural stage that they've set up inside the remains of an old building!! Super cool!!
